Dispute: On April 20, deputy Joshua Smith was dispatched to a domestic dispute north of Danielsville, where he found a couple sitting on a couch in their home. The wife explained that her husband wanted to go out with some friends she described as "the wrong kind of friends." He would up leaving with them, and once he returned, the couple sat down to eat. During the meal, the woman said her husband smacked her in the mouth. The husband explained that his wife had been on his case all day. He said he called his brother-in-law to come and get her, but the brother-in-law refused.
Theft: On April 20, a Second Street, Colbert, resident said someone removed three tires from her vehicles and replaced them with tires of poorer condition.
Theft: On April 21, deputy Alan Stratton was dispatched to Piedmont Park where a man said someone removed the radiators from two vehicles in his yard.
Assault: On April 21, a woman reported that her boyfriend had assaulted her and kept her from leaving their home. The assault stemmed from the fact she had a flat tire and he had to come and pick her up. The woman had a black eye and a cut on her face.
Theft: On April 21, a former jail inmate reported that while he was incarcerated, someone stole his medications, which consisted of Lortab, Xanax and Soma. He said his 35-year-old girlfriend may have taken the pills.
Burglary: On April 21, deputy Jeff Strickland was dispatched to some chicken houses on Paoli Road, Comer. A man said he was traveling on the road when he saw a green Ford Explorer parked in the trees near his father's property. When he stopped, the Ford began to leave but stopped, and the driver told the man that he and his wife were arguing. The vehicle began to leave, but the man saw it stop and pick up a young man who was walking near the property. The man then checked his chicken houses and found that some wire had been pulled out, rolled into a ball and left by the door. Other metal pieces, from a compressor to electric motors, also were placed outside the chicken house. Evidence was collected at the scene, and Dennie Gaines Smith, 57, of Comer was charged with burglary. Two others are being sought.
Burglary: On April 21, a man said he went to T&T Mini Storage and noticed the locks cut off on four units. One renter reported a CD player missing, but the other renters could not be reached.
Dispute: On April 22, a Hull woman reported that she and her husband were arguing when he grabbed her keys and began walking toward the road. The woman said she and two others, a man and woman, wrestled her husband to the ground and took back the keys. The couple argued again, and the husband punched his wife's vehicle, breaking a window. When the wife called 911, the husband fled the scene. The deputy reached the husband by phone, but the man refused to return to the scene.
Harassment: On April 22, a woman said her ex-boyfriend continues to drive by her home, calls and and texts her, and leaves written notes on her door and mailbox. He also has called her mother. In addition, she said her ex's wife has been calling her.
Theft: On April 22, deputy Alan Stratton was dispatched to Paoli Junction on Georgia Highway 98 East, where a clerk said a woman pumped $50.55 worth of gasoline into an orange Eclipse, then left without paying.
Theft: On April 22, deputy Jeff Strickland was dispatched to the Qwik Shop convenience store on Georgia Highway 98 West, where a clerk said someone pumped $24.97 worth of gas into a blue Kia with a missing right rear hubcap and left without paying. Strickland located a vehicle matching the description on Allen Road, but he was unable to find anyone near the car.
Damage: On April 22, deputy Alan Stratton was dispatched to Doe Run to meet with a man who said his gate had been damaged. Someone apparently dumped large rocks near the gate to stop access to a lake behind his home. The man said he has a legal right to get to the lake, and the gateway was the only possible route. The man said he plans to prosecute for the damage.
Assault: On April 21, Cpl. Klint Segars was dispatched to a domestic dispute in Danielsville. A 40-year-old woman said she was baby-sitting for a man who began to make sexual advances toward her. When she asked him for some money, he became irate and choked her. The man denied the woman's allegations and she slapped his face. Neither person had any visible injuries.
Arrest: On April 22, Cpl. Klint Segars was dispatched to a mobile home park on U.S. Highway 29. A mother and daughter were arguing, and the mother had run out the door with her boyfriend before Segars arrived. Deputy Wesley Bryant spotted the boyfriend sitting behind a trailer. When the boyfriend saw the deputies, he ran off into a nearby pasture. The mother, 33-year-old Lisa Evans, was located and placed in custody once deputies learned she was wanted on a warrant from Franklin County. The boyfriend returned to the scene but refused to give his real name. He said he ran because he loved Evans. At the jail, he was identified as 41-year-old Clarkesville resident Tracy A. Butcher, who was wanted by authorities in White County. He was charged with obstruction and giving a false name.
Arrests: On April 23, deputy Wesley Bryant responded to a call of a dispute occurring inside a vehicle traveling on U.S. Highway 29 in Hull. Bryant located the Jeep and stopped it on Sanford Road. He could hear a man cursing as he approached the vehicle, while the woman in the car sat silently. The man was placed in the patrol car, and the woman explained they had been to an Athens club and had a misunderstanding. The driver, Tavaris T. Roberts, told the deputy he had three drinks. He registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.13 on a Breathalyzer test. Roberts, 30, of Oak Hill Drive, Athens, was charged with DUI.
Complaint: On April 23, a resident of Country Living Mobile Home Park on Georgia Highway 72, Colbert, reported that someone entered her vehicle, but nothing was stolen. Another resident reported his vehicle entered, and $15 in quarters was stolen.
Damage: On April 23, a Del Cedar Lane resident reported someone flattened three tires on her vehicle, pulled out its contents and scattered them on the ground, and wrote two obscene words on the windows. The woman thinks another woman is responsible.
Theft: On April 23, an Old Danielsville Road resident reported that someone stole a stereo from his unlocked vehicle.
Theft: On April 23, a Danielsville woman told Cpl. Jason Luke that someone took her credit card and made $850 in charges. The woman said some jewelry, including a gold necklace that has sentimental value, also is missing. The deputy spoke with the woman's stepson, who was arrested recently for stealing a credit card. He denied the thefts.
Forgery: On April 23, a woman reported that two of her parents' checks were forged and cashed. A man who has performed odd jobs at her parents' home was listed as a possible suspect.
Theft: On April 23, a woman reported that after staying with some friends on Covey Drive and returning to her car that morning, she realized someone had stolen her GPS receiver and cell phone charger cord.
Damage: On April 23, deputy Chris Guest was dispatched to an abandoned house on Elm Road, where someone had
