Complaint: On Aug. 8, a 46-year-old man said he was at the end of his Essex Road driveway when a man who lives nearby rode toward him on a motorcycle. At the last moment, the rider veered his bike away, then drove to his own driveway, stopped and stared at the other man. The complainant explained he has had problems with the neighbor, who repeatedly "flips the bird" and harasses his wife and small children. The deputy also noted there is a well-documented history of violence and problems between the two men.
Harassment: On Aug. 8, a 31-year-old Watkinsville woman reported that she and her new boyfriend, a 35-year-old Hull man, have been harassed by the man's ex-girlfriend, who lives in Colbert. The ex has been sending harassing messages on Facebook and has shared personal information on the Watkinsville woman that could come only from someone who knows her. The woman said she has never met her boyfriend's ex and does not know her. The complainant said her boyfriend also has tried to get his ex to stop the harassment, and has addressed the problem with the ex-girlfriend's mother.

Fight: On Aug. 9, deputy Casey Evans was dispatched to Mars Hill Road. An Athens man explained that he had purchased a set of tires three weeks earlier, and while driving near the Oconee Connector, the front passenger tire came loose and fell off his truck. The man said he was able to get the truck into a parking lot, where he called the owner of the tire store in Bogart and advised him of the problem. The man agreed to come out and fix the vehicle and told the complainant it would be ready by 2 p.m. The complainant said he went to get his truck and saw the man still working on it and being "very rough" with it. The complainant said he asked the man not to be so rough. The comment upset the worker, and he slammed the tire rim against the truck. The complainant asked the worker to stop, which prompted the man to curse and throw his tools into his own truck. The complainant said the worker picked up a tire iron, raised it toward him aggressively and said, "Get the (expletive) out of my face." The worker pushed the complainant, got into his vehicle and left at a high rate of speed. The complainant said his wife witnessed the exchange, and he wanted to press charges. The worker told Evans he had gone to the location and was working on the truck when the complainant pulled up and started telling him he was being rough on the truck. The worker said he quit his repairs and was loading his tools when the complainant got in his face and screamed, "Go ahead and hit me." The man said he cursed at the customer and left. The deputy determined there was not enough evidence to make an arrest, so he explained to the complainant how to get a warrant from a judge.

The woman said she realized at that point the apartment was a scam.
